On May 25-26 Minister of National Defence Rasa Juknevičienė will attend a meeting of the Baltic Defence Ministers in Liepaja, Latvia. Lithuanian Minister with her Baltic counterparts Artis Pabriks (Latvia) and Mart Laar (Estonia) are planned to discuss security situation in the Baltic region, Baltic defence cooperation projects, and perspectives of deepening cooperation and compatibility of the Baltic defence planning.
Lithuanian Minister is expected to review the NATO Baltic Air Policing mission, missile defence and other points. The meeting Ministers will also share experience of participation in multinational operations, and discuss agenda of NATO Defence Ministers’ meeting planned to take place in Brussels in June.
After the meeting in Liepaja a Communiqué will be signed.
Last meeting of the Baltic Defence Ministers took place in December 2010 in Tartu (Estonia). A new phase of cooperation was agreed upon – the Baltic defence integration.
