The ash plume from Iceland's Grímsvötn volcano reached Estonian airspace on the morning of May 25, but the nation's airways remain open, aviation authorities say.
"According to the latest data, there is a low-density ash cloud over Estonia, the edge of which lies somewhere between Loksa and Mõisaküla. The cloud is moving to the east and by lunch it will cover all of Estonia. Since we're dealing with an ash cloud of low concentration, it won't prevent air travel, so flights through our airspace will continue as usual," said Kristjan Telve of the Civil Aviation Authority.
Telve said the situation was likely to remain stable throughout the rest of the day, but reminded passengers to take into account possible disruptions in other countries, rus.err.ee reported.
Earlier in the day, airports in Hamburg and Bremen saw cancellations due to the ash, and similar disruptions are expected in Poland and Scandinavia.
