The Nordic Film Club continues to show free films with next week's screening of "Leningrad cowboys go America" at Pasaka cinema.
"The Leningrad Cowboys, a band with foot-long quiff hairstyles and long Winklepicker shoes to match, are seeking success in Siberia, but nobody seems to like their music," the Nordic Council of Ministers wrote in a press release.
"Thwarted by a lack of local commercial potential, they are encouraged to move to America, for people will listen to "anything" there. An agent in New York offers them a gig at a wedding in Mexico and recommends that they change their musical style to rock and roll,"
"They buy a used Cadillac, strap the coffin carrying their frozen band member onto the roof and set off to earn their way through the Deep South, adapting their musical style to suit local tastes at each new location."
The film will be shown on May 25 at 6 p.m.
The film will be shown in original language with English subtitles at the Cinema Theatre Pasaka (Sv. Ignoto 4/3, Vilnius). Entrance is free of charge, but reservation of seats is not available. To get tickets you must turn up at the cinema before the screening. Maximum two tickets per person.
The Nordic Film Club shows selected films for everybody who are interested in Nordic cinema and want to see films that usually are not screened at Lithuanian cinema theatres.
The Film Club tries to represent different genres without discriminating between film-makers, who are not known internationally.
The sponsor of the film club is the Nordic Council of Ministers Office in Lithuania.
