Directors to watch

Vilniaus tarptautinio kino festivalio „Kino pavasaris 2011“ atidarymas (Tomo Vinicko nuotr., Alfa.lt)

Who are the film directors to watch for the future coming out of central and eastern Europe? That's the question that the Kino Pavasaris jury will be asking as they evaluate the films of the film competition "New Europe, New Names."

The competition, which features debut feature films from countries in central and eastern Europe, is part of the annual Kino Pavasaris festival and has 11 entrants this year.

Though not competing, "Hello, how are you" the Romanian comedy opened the program on a Saturday evening in Vilnius.

The jury consists of Milcho Manchevskij, a Macedonian director, Nadya Turyncev, film producer, Gary McVey, director of the American Cinema Foundation, Alante Kavaite, Lithuanian director and script writer who lives in France and Fred Kelemen, director and cinematographer.

The winner of the competition programme will be anounced on March 31.
