Swedbank analyst Tomas Andriejauskas has given the advice not to borrow, stop spreading out and stop panicking for the crisis, which he believes will last until 2011.

Hard times are expected: the unemployment rate next year will reach 6.5 percent in Lithuania and real wages will grow only in 1.4 percent.

"We will simply have to outlive this,” Andriejauskas said.

During the crisis, he suggests people:

- Reconsider before making expensive purchases

- Think twice before borrowing

- Get to know their financial abilities – start a household accountancy

- Save up, but not in your piggy bank

- Don’t give in to panic

Andriejauskas says the government:

- Should not overdo tax burden

- Is going the right way in budget balancing, as there are no sources to finance the big budget

- To look where to borrow money from – the European Union, the International Monetary Fund

- To thoroughly overview the investment promotion programmes, especially the external – the current programmes are not working

- To consider a programme of government warranties to help the priority sections of economy

- To foster export

Finally, according to Andriejauskas, business should:

- Continue the fight with expenditures

- diminish debts

- concentrate on their basic activities

- enhance efficiency
